I wouldn't say it's hard to get an authentic, just very easy to get a fake.
You should always look for known authentic examples of the autograph you're looking to buy before purchasing. Many celebrities signatures will vary depending on where they are signed. Some will sometimes sign either their full name or sometimes just their first name or even initial if they are in a big hurry.
However there are usually previous examples and if not, then there are always similarities to look for.
Watch the way they form the letters rather than the actual "shape" of the autograph and this should give you some indication of authenticity.
I am very rarely confident enough in my authentication skills to buy something off eBay and usually stick to buying from UACC dealers such as autograph world
