i do think that they are real, as i got one the other week, the letter says its from California, so it must be her signing it.

As we told you last week, we do not actually SEE Miss Day sign the
photographs so we cannot answer your question. However, we certainly
believe she signs the photographs.

Additionally, the address in Kentucky belongs to one of Miss Day's
assistants of many years, who handles much of the correspondence. The
Foundation itself is in Los Angeles and Miss Day is in Northern
California. We do not have an "office" per se, but rather operate through
the Internet, telephone and mail.

Another genuine signature, the lasso becomes a sort of "overline" instead of an underline. And her D's are very distinctive at the lower lefthand corner.

Here's a genuine Doris Day autograph, collected in person:

Note the "lasso" thing she does above her name...

I'm also noticing that with a lot of these Doris Day signatures, the "y" at the end loops at the bottom, and is broken in exactly the same place all the time. Autopen?

shes not known as clara one forum member made a mistake

by singaporefan » Mon Aug 10, 2009 6:30 am

I had one posting thread where a poster had quoted a magzine article that doris calls herself as clara, to clarify this , i had asked the Doris Day animal foundation, this is the response

"It is always a pleasure hearing from Doris Day's fans and supporters, andwe are happy to forward your message on to her business office. The information about the name "Clara" and other items that are notedonline and in other areas is inaccurate, so you can rest assured her name is still Doris. " Lu Ann SmithAdministrative Assistant

Requests for autographs are forwarded to Miss Day's business office. Weassume she signs them, but we are in a different part of the country, so we don't see what happens to each of the literally thousands of requests. Lu Ann SmithAdministrative Assistant

I have heard that she has a secretary handle her mail but than she gives it to her.I'm really not to shure how true this is thought.

The TTM Doris Day autographs are secretarial.

They are always postmarked in Kentucky, but Ms. Day lives a quiet life on a ranch in California, and rarely leaves the Ranch.
