Of course they're not going to want to believe whether or not they're a secretarial or autopen because then they're going to believe every single autograph received through the mail is fake then. And then if they still don't want to "believe" you, then let it go. Just don't respond to it. Heck, I still like to believe some of my signatures are legit even though I know for a fact they're probably secs. All I see is negativity around here and it's time to be more positive!
If those young members can't believe that Robin Williams and people like that send out Secs or AP's and believe that Jennifer Aniston is real AFTER i provide FIVE PHOTOS that are 100% identical, no i'm not gonna be "understanding" LOL! And this is a public forum so I am able to reply to EVERYTHING if I choose to. And maybe I Would be more "positive" if they were more understanding. Just my outlook on that... {up}

I'm 18 and started posting on here at age 16, which you'd consider a "young teen adult". There's no need to be any more "understanding" to people this age than any other age, people this age don't deserve any kind of special treatment. You're right, we dont wan't to believe they're a sec or AP, but no one in this hobby wants to believe that about their autograph. One of my very first success's was Samuel L Jackson.... I was bouncing off the walls with excitment over getting his autograph. But right after posting it, people informed me it was fake. It was disapointing for sure, but that didn't for a minute make me believe any of my others were fake.

Hell, just last week I was informed that, what was my 2nd favorite autograph in my collection (Usain Bolt), was infact an AP. There was nothing negative about people telling me it was an AP, it was the truth, and the truth isn't always what you want to hear.

Oh and a big {up} to everything Campbell999 just said lol

This can be a touchy subject, but if we are here, its because we are collectors and want to collect autographs. I am assuming no one is here because they want fake responses, pre prints, autopens, secretaries, etc. We want the real thing, thats why we take the time to write letters or buy from vendors.
On that note, if someone has a PP, AP, sec or forgery, and is asking about that item, then they do need to know the truth. Their is no use in letting someone be happy with a fake or imitated item, when they think its the real deal. Opinions from others, you have to sort through. Some think they know more than the really do, and some have no clue at all. But when you start to get the majority of comments telling you one thing, thats probably the truth.
If an item is fake or imitated and someone thinks its real, they need to be told its no good. How can they learn from their mistakes if they arent informed that they made a mistake.
If people dont have the knowledge and are just commenting to post a thread, then they shouldnt comment. But if they know what they are talking about and are asked for their opinion, then no one should be surprised by that opinion, good or bad. You cant be afraid to hear your item is bad or good if your inexperienced. If its bad, try and get a refund and live and learn. Dont get mad and believe that it has to be real or that just because a website sold it to you that its real. COAs are largely worthless. I can print one out from my home computer, they are just paper. If you buy from ebay, their is an option that most should be aware of. ITs called PSA quick opinion from psa dna. For around 8 dollars, psa will look at that item in quesiton and give you an opinion typically in a day. This will save you a huge hassle if you use it.

But we as collectors should never sit back and let someone pretend their items is real when its not. If we did that, than we would be the forgers best friend. You might as well have nothing but forgeries in your collection.

YES, however if I provide PROOF and they STILL deny me and call me names for saying the truth, I WONT be understanding about that. Usually I will post the truth on the thread and then then they will message me and ask me for tips about how to get them an authentic one and I always answer...but I meet users like that. I will be more understanding when THEY become more understanding as well. {up} That is fair.

:lol: Before even clicking that link on the post before this, i knew where it would lead me.

Secretarial and PP and so on, there is, 99% of the time, evidence of it. Such as other photos or family members of the celeb saying their secs as recently happened with Willie Nelson i think it was, may be wrong on who it was.

Just that fact that two in person autographs can be greatly different, is something i think we should remember before using strong words when saying we think someones autograph is a fake.

I got two autographs from David Haye (boxer) and honestly they look NOTHING alike.

I guess this does show that when you buy a autograph from someone on eBay, there really is no way to know if it is real. PP like the one in the post before this are easy to tell, but if hand done, there really is no way to know. Even with photos of celebs signing the photo you have to be so careful.

I saw a Matt Damon autograph on ebay with a video of him signing it, then rushing inside a studio. When i paused the video when he signed it i could see the one sold on ebay, the autograph started about a inch lower. So the guy obviously faked more of them to make more money, maybe he did get him again on the way out but the video was dishonest.

Unless you were there, if its hand done, its just so hard to tell these days.
