Safe to purchase signed CD's from singer's websites?

I purchased an autographed copy of Shawn Mendes' new album Illuminate from Target.com and the autograph looks very questionable on weather or not it is authentic. Many of the people who ordered signed CDs received CDs that were not even signed. Do you think that some of them may have been signed by a secretary or do singers who sell their own autograph for money usually sign it themselves. I understand the occassional secretrial TTM but that is usually free so i would understand if it was forged. I would always expect them to be real if it is through a company like target or walmart or through their own website. What are your thoughts?
