hey there,
one of the stickies in this forum has a great example of how to write your charity auction letter to celebs.
it includes, what to say and how to say it.
i recommend you give it a look, and yes most people send stuff if you are doing a charity from what i've read on this site!

Many celebrities are sending out authentics for Charity Auctions :)

To get more information, search for the celebrity you would like to request an autograph from, and look at their recent feedback. There is often a lot of information about whether or not they give out authentics, and you can see and compare the autographs :D
