Hi collectorzone {up}

The advice given by the others above is great, but I have taken the liberty of changing your letter a bit (below) if you don't mind :wink:

You can decide which bits you want to use yourself :D
Dear XXXX

My name is xxx and I am xx years old.

I am writing to you in the hope that you might be able to help me with my fundraising auction of autographed photographs and memoralilia. My aim is to raise funds for children in Uganda, and all money raised by the auction will be donated to "Warchild" at: Postbank Giro 6366.

"Warchild" needs to raise over €200,000 to help the children in Uganda, recover from the attrocities of war, and the money raised will enable the charity to provide funds for better education, a better life and a better future as well.

This is what has lead me to you. . . . It is our hope that willing celebrities will be generous enough to donate signed memorabilia or photographs for sale / auction, which will serve as a real incentive for people to support the charity.

Please accept my sincere thanks if this is at all possible, and anything you can donate would be greatly received.

All the best,
Yours sincerely,

xxx xxx

I would say why you chose that charity and how you came to find out about it.
But other than that it looks fine to me,

I'd include a charity logo, or print it on charity letter-headed paper {up}

Ask the charity for a detailed letter on exactly what they do and all the stuff like that. This can be copied and put in all the letters you send for the charity. Other than that I think it is fine.

Dear XXXX

My name is XXXXXXXX and I am XXXXXXX years old.
I am writing in the hope that you will be able to help me in my attempt to raise funds for the children in Uganda. The money will be donated to warchild, to: Postbank Giro 6366

I am collecting autographs for a local charity, warchild. The autographs will be donated to the charity auction for December 2007
warchild needs €200,000 to help the children in Uganda, that need help after they had a war. We are helping them so they can get a better education and a better live without war and a better future as well.

This is what has lead me to you.
It is our hope that willing celebrities will be generous enough to donate signed memorabilia or photographs for prizes, which will serve as a real incentive for people to participate.

If this is possible, I am sure it would be greatly received.
All the best
thank you for your generous support.
Yours sincerely,
