It might help to email the venue just to verify that they still pass along fan mail. It depends on the size of the venue. Let me preface this by saying I haven't received a response yet, but this was my methodology for my first band VV.
When The Killers played at The Orange Peel in NC, I tried emailing before I sent out my package, but didn't get a response so I sent it about 10 days before they were scheduled to perform. On the envelope I wrote the performance date in parentheses just as a reminder. After the show I emailed the venue again (to several different addresses this time!) To verify that my letter was passed along. A woman replied pretty quick & told me that yes, they gave it to their tour manager, which I think is common practice.
Like I said before, I haven't gotten anything back yet but I'm hoping its because they've been touring in Europe. I included a SASE, LOR, a picture as well as CD covers, with a note saying they didn't have to sign it all since I didn't want to look greedy. I didn't want to waste an opportunity either! Finally I included a sharpie as an extra incentive to sign right away.
Good luck, I hope this helps you!
