I was exactly the same, I only thought that you could go through winning competitions - if you go onto sroaudiences.com (a free tv audience tickets company) you can sign up to their mailing list and they'll e-mail you when tickets are available for the British Soap Awards, and then you just 'apply' for tickets.

JamesLarden - They do pass on mail for six months after they've left, as I've had a couple of replies from people I sent to after they'd already left through Elstree - fingers crossed she'll reply to you... she was lovely in person :)
