Today I went with a friend to the hotel Shakira was staying at. Within 30 minutes, I spotted Shakira walking back to the hotel with her bodyguard and publicist. The bodyguard tried to block us off, but Shakira insisted on signing for us. After she signed for us, my friend asked her for a photo with. Shakira was wearing a hat, sunglasses and a scarf covering her face. She said, "I'm not trying to hide, but it's cold. If I take the photo with this on, no one will believe you that it's me!" She told us maybe later then went inside the hotel.
We waited a few hours at the hotel before heading down to the Public Theater for the performance of "Courage in Concert" starring Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Daniel Craig, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Mike Nichols. Craig, Nichols and Streep got in before we got there. Kevin Kline was walking around and came back. He signed for us even though he said he was in a rush. Maggie Gyllenhaal walked down the street and she signed+took photos with everyone. I got her on a blank and got a photo with her. She was surprisingly very very nice. Punk rock legend and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Patti Smith walked in. She came back out and signed+took pictures with everyone. She inscribed "People have the power" before signing. I got a photo with her, but she kept closing her eyes because of the flash.
