First of all congratulations mymymy on your success. At least you got an autograph of some sort.

I met David Tennant last year around October time when he was filming in Margate for a BBC drama series. I turned up at about 8 in the morning and he was already filming waited for about 2 hours or more when he came up from the beach and there was a car waiting. I just asked David could i get an autograph please and he was more than hapy to do so. It was just the film crew rushing him. I ended up getting all my boxsets signed and a photo with.

They told me he was too busy to sign and stuff like that, but sometimes you just have to ask them direct. It took me most of the afternoon to get bits signed on and off of filming, but so glad i went down.

I also got Billie Piper the same week, again told shes too emotional (due to the scene being filmed) and wont sign please dont ask her. All i done was waited a little way back from the car and called her name, she saw my boxset and photo and came straight over to me.

This was all around 8pm and just in my local area, actually a block of flats they were filmimg in. so noone was really intrested and just me waiting.

I think its all down to the day and timing when you have cars waiting and security they always make it harder. The producer was just terrible really tried to make it difficault for me to get near her, but as soon as she signed i went home. I tried to explain all i want is for her to sign this then i will go. All the time i dont succeed i will be back.

I happen to see him again the following week as i had been given a part as an extra on another episode they were filming, that was with Jaime Winstone, who was very nice but as i was working with her didnt ask for any autographs.

He was probably just really busy and rushing around, that's why he probably put just 'MS'. And that security guard is a bit thick and weird.

I've only seen her myself on her own time, when she was in the audience at the last Hamlet. I admit, she didn't give off a great impression (she looked bored as hell) but I'm more than willing to believe she's lovely in person. I'm just proud I didnt succumb to the impulse to trip her up at the time... ;)

Nice encounter Osiris with David and Georgia.
Funny you metioned Georgia. She just did her first Doctor Who convention in the US last February. I found her very nice to her fans and she was very accomindating with the autographing and taking of the photo opps.

I'm not sure I agree that the fame has "gone to his head". Unfortunately, the sheer interest in him has lead to a change in his behaviour as far as spending time with fans is concerned. It's not because he feels he is better than people, or shouldnt have to bother with them. My friend met him & Georgia on a beach in Wales last year. They were both on holiday. They chatted for a while and when my friend asked for a photo, both agreed to be in one (in fact, Georgia thought she wouldnt want her in it, but David persuaded her to join in). I myself have seen him when he's trying to go about his business in Stratford. I tried to ignore him (we were outside a cafe having a drink). A school tour of kids happened to have just turned up and a few proceeded to sit and eat their chips while watching him though a window. It seems a great many people seem to be under the impression that they own a piece of him, I can't blame him for wanting to retreat a little, even when on "work" time.

mymymy,
Matt was very nice to me. If you read my post, like I said. Matt got me into the event as his guest and even bought me a drink at a bar near the venue. When we conversed he actually was sincere on my thoughts about the show.
Speaking about David Tennant, I too also meet him in a low key situation. Back in 2005, just as he was announced as the new Doctor, he did press out here for the Casanova mini series. At the time being the doctor was still very new to him and he was very humble when I confronted him about it. Unfortunately there were no photos of him yet as the doctor so I had him sign all my Who related books, 10 in all. At the time he was very nice and told me I was his very first autograph as the doctor. He took several photo opps and that was it. Last year I meet David again when he was over here promoting the Doctor Who specials. Though he didn't remember my name, he did remember our meeting from way back in 2005. Since 4 years of Who have passed, the "fame" has gotten a little to his head. Though he did sign all of my Doctor Who photo's he wasn't as nice doing it. It took me 4 days to get them all signed, as oppossed to the one hour time I had with him those many years ago.
I feel the same is going to happen with Matt. Just you wait and see. Just as soon as the current season is over he'll have ton's of security escourting him around.

I think in cases with David, it's not so much PA/security these days but David himself. He's a lovely guy but even he will say "enough is enough". The stories I heard from the crew in Stratford... he was so close to quitting doing stage door.

Locations can be hard to find, especially as they're obviously in Cardiff. They're filming SJA right now. Spending a few days in Cardiff though & keeping your ear to the ground usually comes up with some results. Especially if you know the telltale signs of a shoot going on (FATTS vans, TRACK signs etc). Also the council have to notify people if streets are going to be shut, so locals often find out ahead of time. My friends go down all the time (local ones & visitors). They were at Ten's regeneration scene (well, the bit prior to it in the snowy housing estate, which was filmed in London) and have been in their fair share of Confidential episodes lol. Sadly the only time I managed to get to Cardiff has been read through week for Waters of Mars! We arrived in Cardiff the day after they all got back from Dubai so saw no filming. Did see DT, RTD, Julie & Euros in town though :D

cool! yah i know friends who have had photos with him and often does that peace sign!

i think its simply a case of, like David Tennant he is a nice guy, it just gets mad in inviroments with los of fans, people are different, or thier PA/scurity rush them etc.

Good to know! Im real tempted to scout locations if/when he films his 2nd series, would have no idea where to look tho!! :?

^ from what I've heard from friends (who are frequently at filming), he's adorable. One (who has actually never been to filming despite living in Cardiff) bumped into him on a train from London to Cardiff the other day. He was very friendly & took a photo with her (giving a peace sign).
