Terry Gilliam and more

by tansternant » Thu Mar 24, 2011 10:28 am

Last Saturday , I had a nice day out in Bradford and Leeds in the UK , and got a bunch of autos along the way .

First up , I did the Stage Door of the Grand Theatre in Leeds , where Calendar Girls was on .

I met most of the cast , but the main ones for me were Gwen Taylor ( who had appeared as a number of characters in Life Of Brian - keeping up the Monty Python theme ) , Lynda Bellingham ( who had appeared in 4 Doctor Who stories - the whole season of The Trial Of A Time Lord ) and Ruth Madoc ( just because I had always liked her really ) .

Others in the cast who I met were Jennifer Ellison , Trudie Styler ( The Bill ) and Lisa Riley ( Emmerdale ) , all of whom I got in my auto book .

After a bit of shopping in Leeds , I then went on to Bradford , where the International Film Festival is on . Doing a talk tonight , and introducing one of his films ( Time Bandits ) was Terry Gilliam , one-time Python , and now a hit film director / writer in his own rights .

After a bit of hanging around , I managed to meet Terry , and get quite a few autos , including a couple of books , a Life Of Brian film cell , and DVD covers of Doctor Parnassus , The Fisher King ( now signed by Terry and David Hyde Pierce ) , and my favourite , Time Bandits , now signed by Terry , Michael Palin , John Cleese , David Warner and Kenny Baker (one of the items I like best :D ) .

All in all , a great day .

Now I'm looking forward to this weekend , when I hope to meet Derek Jacobi and others in Manchester , and then on to May , when I hope to meet John Cleese ( which will only leave Eric Idle of the living Pythons for me to meet ) .
