This happened a while back, beginning of December.. but as it is my biggest in-person success, I thought I should post the concert review and pictures! (warning.. its kinda long because I wrote it a couple of days after the show and was still extremely excited)
First, I need to give some background information:
Tidbit #1- I won two tickets from Hot FM before the box office even had tickets on sale.
Tidbit #2 - I won two MORE tickets AND backstage passes on the day of the concert. Backstage PASSES. To meet Simple Plan. It was great... I sold my two extra tickets to Brent and Meg for ten bucks each.
First, Brent and Meg were dropped off at our house and we left! On the way there, Rock 94 was on the radio and they were talking about the lineups and stuff, and we're like WE'RE GOING THERE! It was funny.
When we got there, we got to skip all of the lines because the doors had already been opened. We found our seats (it turned out that I had sold the better tickets to them. Damn, I'm stupid.) and we went back out. I bought a pink hedley shirt worth 30 bucks AND a 8x10 autographed picture! IT ROCKS cause its actually autographed! I'm like YESSSSS. We also met up with my two other friends.
We then went to our seats and hung out until Idle Sons started. I didnt' really pay too much attention to them because I was too busy waiting until I got to go BACKSTAGE AND SEE SIMPLE PLAN! (I was supposed to meet Kristen from Rock 94 at 7:30... Idle Sons went on at 7:00). They were good, though.. the main guy was pretty hot. It was funny when we were out getting drinks and stuff, my friend Meg was freaking out.. when the lights went off and everybody started screaming, she just SCREAMED and started jumping around, apparently she doesnt even remember what she did. LOL. But yeah, Meg seemed to enjoy it!
At 7:30, Breanne, Meg, Brent and I headed to the box office place where we were supposed to meet them. Brent and Meg wanted to come backstage with me, Brent wanted to be like "VIVA LE QUEBEC!" lmfao, it would have been hilarious but unfortunately they weren't allowed. So Breanne and I hung out in the lobby part freezing our asses off with some other girl who won. I think she was mad at me because I was wearing my hedley shirt and I had NO idea what Simple Plan's names were... also possibly because I kept hearing major screaming coming from inside the actual concert hall and I kept asking if it was hedley. Yeah, they were definitely getting mad at me. Once or twice, the girl from Rock 94 was like "Okay, you dont need to come backstage. It's your choice." I was like I WANT TO! LoL, but after about an hour of waiting and stuff, the road manager or whoever he was came to get us and took us backstage! IT ROCKED.
We went into this place where there was a bunch of food and stuff, like MAJOR amounts. It was crazaaaay. There were like a bunch of tables and balloons and stuff with music notes. I thought it was cheesy personally, but I guess they were just trying to please Simple Plan. I mean, we get NO ONE here so I guess it makes sense. We hung out there for a little while, Kristen gave me a poster thing and a Silver Sharpie, which I was to be "in charge of". Apparently they had their own Sharpies, which was fine with me. I'm now up a Silver Sharpie, lol. Well when we walked in I saw Chuck and he just grinned at me. I like ... fell in love right there. He's got a gorgeous smile. But he was the only one from the band who was there right at first, I guess he left for a while to get them or something? Yeah.. we hung out for a while, there were also others there who won other contests. The road managers or whatever were directing us around and stuff and were trying to line us up. I got confused, cause they were like "Line up!" "Sit down!" "Stand here!" "Stand there!" I was like, MAKE UP YOUR MIND! lol.
Finally they came in and the first person I met was Sebastien. He shook my hand and asked me my name and all that fun stuff, he also signed my poster thing. He's really nice and kinda hot too. Then came Jeff, he also shook my hand and stuff, also signed. Then came Chuck again, I was like .. starstruck by his smile. It's gorgeous.... by then I realized that I should probably ask them for hugs. lmfao. Next came David! (THE REALLY HOT ONE!) We did all the signing thing and I asked him for a hug. He obliged, and when he hugged me I kinda looked down and MAN HE IS SO HOT. He wore the tightest pants, lmfao. It was like "MMM" lol.
Pierre came up to me and also asked me my name and everything, but I had to ask him for my friend Trevo if he liked Sarah Michelle Gellar, since they did that video for Scooby Doo. He said that he didn't get to work with her and stuff.. but at first, I think I confused him because he was like "...what?" lol. I told him that I was asking for my friend who was in love with her and he was just like "ahhh..." (all knowingly, lol). It was great. He also willingly gave me a hug. I just about died, he's also really hot. I was surprised, they all are really tall!
The people organizing it grouped everyone together for pictures, and the first one was with all of the contest winners except me. I asked why I wasn't in it and the guy organizing it was like "you're not supposed to be in this." I guess he thought I worked for the radio or something, so I freaked out when they took them. lol. I was really upset though, because Breanne was in the pic but I wasn't! I was like DUDE. But I guess they realized that I had won a contest so there was another picture with (I think) just ME and Breanne and the band.. oh and also the ppl from Rock 94. But still, it was cool. I can't remember, but I THINK Pierre put his arm around me. LOL, it was all a blur.
When the pictures were done, we headed back to our seats and stuff.. just when Planet Smashers were finishing up. I missed them but apparently they sucked and were like.. clones of System (according to Meg). So I'm glad I didn't miss much. They were wearing orange jumpsuits and had trumpets and crap. From what I actually heard, they weren't that good.
There was a short intermission, during which time us four went to get drinks and stuff, (Oh, by that time Maegan and Breanne had switched seats). Not much of interest happened during that time except I kept trying to show off my signed poster. I wanted attention, lmfao. We had headed to Brent and Meg's section because there were two empty seats beside them... it all worked out. We were quite close to the stage. lol
THEN THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. I screamed my butt off. I had no idea what was going on around me, except for the fact that I saw the first few members of Hedley walking on the stage. First was Chris, then Tom, then Dave... then JACOB! On the side of the stage, I saw him jump on one of the crew's backs, attempting to get a ride onto stage. The crew member didn't oblige. lol... but he came onto stage with a really beautiful note "whoooaaaa!" I DIED. I couldn't stop screaming. I can't exactly remember, but I think that Brent and Meg kept laughing at me and Maegan freaking out.
It was AWESOME. They opened with "I Don't Believe It.". I screamed along with every word that he sang. Probably horribly too, but I didn't care. Just seeing them that close to me is like.. AHH. I cant even describe how amazing they were. During Johnny Falls, Jake explained the motions.
"Johnny Falls, he throws his hands into the air..." *raise hands in air*
"Into these walls" *stick arms out to the side and try to push the people next to you over*
As he was demonstrating, Dave pushed him over. lol. It was so cute, Jake's bum in the air. I loved him... especially in those pink boxers. MMM. Yeah though, it was cool because exactly that day, "On My Own" BECAUSE NUMBA ONE ON MUCH MUSIC! It was awesome, perfectly fitting to that day, lol. Gotta love the Hedley-Morning-Routine, also... (Wake up, down a beer, then vote for Hedley.)
During On My Own, Brent and Meg were HILARIOUS! It was like.. the only song they knew and they had a lot of fun with it. lmfao, wooow it was fun.
One time I screamed SO loud I thought I like.. broke something in my throat. It hurt soooo bad. Like I thought I was bleeding or something, lol. That could have been why my throat was so sore yesterday, lol.

SIMPLE PLAN IS DRAWING NEARER! lmfao, no. but it was cool, they opened with Shut Up!. During their whole set, me Brent and Meg were like rocking out. ... it was great. But yeah, then they did "Jump".. everyone was supposed to jump, so of course we obliged... Didn't really stop either. It was funny... just kept jumping... hahaha
There was this one point where they wanted to hear the guys make some noise, and Brent screamed his ass off. IT WAS THE FUNNIEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN. He got right into it, which was hilarious. Every song he knew, he positively SCREAMED the words. "HEARTBREAKER!" lmfao... oh man.
Do you guys know that one song where it goes "I cant see me loving nobody but you for all my life?" and its like "So happy together", well they did that song and opened it with "Whos happy together?" By that point, I was so hyper that I was like "NO, I'M TOO EMO TO BE HAPPY!" lmfao. oh man it was great. I confused the 12 year olds around me... Oh and they also rapped, which was the coolest thing! I know it sounded stupid but it really wasn't at the time. It was fun, Pierre is actually a good rapper. lol They merged a bunch of random popular rap songs like Drop It Like Its Hot and that one where it goes "H to the izzle..." lol I cant even type it. But yeah. It was cool.
When they were over, we headed outside with the intentions of hanging out by the tour buses. By then my two other friends had broken away from our group, they had to leave right away. It was pretty cold outside, and Brent and Meg didn't have jackets, lol. But it was okay, I didn't really notice the cold. Brent had pointed out my dad's car and was like "Hey, your dad's here!" I was like DAMN! I knew that he had probably been waiting there for a while yet at the time I had a one-track mind, because by then I had seen the Hedley tour bus and FREAKED OUT. I dropped off my bag in the car, but first grabbed my camera and my bag. Luckily, in anticipation of meeting them, I had saved about 8 pictures... good thing I did too, because I needed them all. lol.
When we got there, we saw a bunch of people crowding the bus and we headed over there right away. Literally, just as we got there, we saw somebody press their face against the tour bus door window and FREAKED OUT. Everybody started screaming and Kelly and Breanne asked me if it was him (him being jacob) and since his face was all distorted due to the window, I said no.. .I actually thought it was Tom or something, but when he opened the door, it turned out it WAS JACOB! of course, everybody nearby screamed which attracted more people to come rushing over. It was insane, there were so many people surrounding him! He moved us off the road, saying "Come on guys, off the road.. I don't want anyone to get ... killed"
But Jacob was so awesome to actually deal with everyone around him. Meg says that she saw him roll his eyes a few times though after everyone was like "YOU'RE HOT!" ahha, I can understand why. But he was amazing, we got a few pics with him.
After that we went over and saw Tom and Dave standing around signing autographs, and I freaked out.. they were reallly nice. When I asked Tom to sign my shirt, he took it from me and stuck it on my head so he could have something to write on. lol, I was like "yes, you're great." my friend asked him what he thought of the cold and he was like "why the hell do you think I live in Vancouver?" The funny part is, it wasn't actually that cold... Well, not compared to what we sometimes have over here. In my pictures though, Dave and Jacob look so cold! Jake's nose is beet red and Dave is trying to warm up his hands, lol. They even mentioned on the site blog how cold it was, its quite funny. Meg was walking around without a jacket and she was fine, which is the funny part. haha, but yeah
