On 9/2/12, I sent a letter, card and SASE to Bobby Tolan, who played for the Big Red Machine and other teams, including the Padres. I saw on this site that there were several successes, a few mentioning they sent $10. I decided to try it without the $ and my card and letter arrived on 9/17/12 with a note at the bottom of the letter - "$10 cash". Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Everyone has their own ideas about former players signing. I think that they can ask whatever they want, then I decide if it's worth it or not. Tolan was a decent player, but I wouldn't pay for his autograph, while other people would. My purpose in this post is to let you know that he will sign TTM, but you need to send $10 in cash. I didn't take a picture of the envelope. I used the addy in the datebase.
