Hi everyone
Last Sunday (15th December), The X Factor UK crowned it's 10th winner - and this time it was the amazing Sam Bailey! Now, I'm from the same town as Sam, so it was inevitable that she would do a homecoming CD signing of her winners single, "Skyscraper", a cover of the Demi Lovato song. I was right, and she came on Thursday 19th December!
There were only 1000 wristbands available so I had to go and collect one for me, and one for my brother on the Monday prior to the signing, as well as buy Skyscraper ready. Then came a huge wait until Thursday.
On Thursday, we arrived at HMV at 3:30, ready for the 5pm start. We got there and there were about 30 people in front of us, and then the queue quickly turned into over 100 behind us only minutes after we arrived, so thankfully we got there at the right time! At about 4:15, HMV escorted the queue inside to wait the remaining 45 minutes.
At 5pm, a member of staff announced that Sam was running a bit late, but she would be there soon and that posed photos would not be possible as there were too many people to get through in such a limited time, as Sam had to be elsewhere later that night. She arrived at 5:15 and posed for photos for the press and then the signing began.
My brother went before me and had a short conversation with her, before telling her that I was his brother and I was next. I walked over to the table, said a quick hello and told her my name was Daniel. I then got an envelope out of my bag and handed it to Sam, to which she said "aww is this for me? Thank you so much, I will read that in a bit!" and then I asked if she would tweet me after when she had read it. She said "I will do!" but I still haven't had a tweet yet
lol. And then that was it!
Even though the actual time with Sam was less than a minute, I'd definitely queue again to meet her because she's so lovely, so down to earth and is just a normal Leicester lady! After the signing, I checked my Twitter and saw that Sam had favourite my tweet about me giving her my letter, so maybe she has read it after all?!
Thank you Sam Bailey for a great meeting; I hope to meet her again in the future.
PS - if you're wondering what was in the letter, it was a letter about how I've supported her throughout The X Factor, thanking her for following me, thanking her for giving me an xfsign, and asking if she wouldn't mind signing the photo I sent her inside the letter and an SASE.
