I'm assuming you never saw him play...probably weren't alive when he played but Bo wasn't a "has-been" nor did he "never amount to much". Bo Jackson was considered and still is considered to be one of the greatest college football players of all time. He was the 1985 Heisman Trophy winner, a 2x All-American and is in the college football HOF. He exceled in 2...thats TWO...professional sports playing in a Pro-Bowl and MLB All-Star game (which he was named the MVP) but was plagued with hip injuries and forced to retire because of them.

As to why he wouldn't sign that SI...who knows. I did a quick search on eBay and couldn't find any of them signed either. Some athletes are picky about certain things they refuse to sign. Mark McGwire refuses to sign anything that pictures him and Jose Canseco together. Steve Garvey refuses to sign his 1982 Fleer Card. Ron Gant won't sign certain items that picture David Justice. The good thing is that you got your money back. And nope...doesn't sign TTM :)
Randy Johnson also would decline signing SI covers (at least his Astros one). I think sometimes it's a personal issue, and in other circumstances it may be a contractual one.

I have his autograph, met him in 99 or 2000 in Yuma, AZ. It was free, it was on the Marine corps base. He was scheduled for an hour stayed two

In-Person Bo Jackson, Failure

I bought a $130 autograph ticket (Flat), for Bo Jackson, in hopes to get my '87 Sports Illustrated(Which Way Bo?) signed this past weekend in Philadelphia. Bo refused to sign it, no reason given....he reserves the right. Thought it was a bit salty, since he's not HOF'er in either sport. I was refunded my money. ???? But thanks Bo, for saving me some $$$$. I'm taking it Bo doesn't sign through the mail, lol.
