Last month, Swedish hard rockers Shotgun Messiah released a live album from their partial reunion tour. As it was only half the original band (singer Zinny J Zan and drummer Stixx, plus bassist Chris Laney and Danger Danger guitarist Robert Marcello), the tour and album were billed as Shotgun. I went to the release party at Hard Rock Cafe in Stockholm, met the original two plus Laney and got my Shotgun Messiah s/t CD signed and also a copy of the new album signed by all three.
A week later, I got the chance to meet another member from one of my favourite bands of all time, Judas Priest. Les Binks, their drummer in the late 1970s on the classic albums Stained Class, Hell Bent for Leather and Unleashed in the East. For the last decades he has only played occasional local shows and prefers to stay low key so I can´t tell the whole story but in short I arranged a meeting with him via another musician at one of their gigs and he was very nice and friendly and signed a total of 6 autographs on various JP albums, CDs and pics for me. A bit of a dream come true as he plays on my favorite Priest album.
