So Saturday I went to a stop on Mike Farrell's book tour, it was fun.
When i got in line before the lobby doors opened I was the youngest person in sight by 30 years-easily. Then when they opened the lobby up and the line started forming at the auditorium doors I heard someone say "See, you're not the only one." A lady came over with her daughter who is about my age and we started talking. We ended up sitting together near the front. When the curtain finally opened the guy in charge of the book fest that the event was part of came out the only part of him you could see over the podium was his head. I'm sitting here thinking "boy, I hope Mike Farrell is taller...I don't know if I could handle watching a disembodied head for that long..." Luckily he was much taller

After giving a very brief overview of his autobiography he said he wanted to give the audience a chance to comment/ask questions. The like 5th question came from a guy in the back. He started off commenting on what a great guy Mike is and then he said his question was (something to the effect of) "how did you become an actor with your big feet?" Thinking what kinda question was that prompted me (and like the whole theater) to turn and look who asked and .... it was Alan Alda

he kept going on and on about Mike' shoe size and naming characters he couldn't play because of his huge feet and said the only character that qualified him to play was Goofy. It was hilarious. He then wanted Mike to tell a certain story about helping with a surgery. Before he started telling the requested story he said that for all those who enjoyed MASH Alan was one of the 'geniuses' that made it such a hit and when everyone applauded Alan really hammed it up.
By the time I finally thought of a question I wanted to ask the guy that introduced Mike said they needed to wrap it up

but hey... it was fun anyway.
The book signing part was nice, not rushed at all. He took time to talk with people and take pictures with people. He's a really nice, down to earth guy. I don't agree with him on many things political, but I do admire the fact that he's vocal about what he believes in. I love his voice...he should record audio books.
I don't think 'SQUEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' adequately covers how I've felt since then.....

edited because I forgot: It was at the Paramount Theater in Charlottesville, VA
At the signing he asked who the book was for and I told him. My sister Abbi told me to tell him 'hi' and give him a kiss, so I told him my 6 year old sister loves BJ and his cheesy mustache and said to tell him 'hi' and give him a kiss (which I blew him). He thought I said she was sick but then I said 6 years old. He said to tell her that BJ (with his cheesy mustache) sends his love. I asked if I could get a picture with him and he said sure. After the picture I told him thanks and we said bye.
