I have a Heath Ledger signature. I would be willing to trade or sell depending on what autographs you have. I also have more for trade if you want to do business. Let me know. Thanks.

I have been collecting autographs for a very long time and Heath was always known as a 'good signer', most particularly in person when he was at home in Australia and he had no problem with fans approaching him for his siganature as long as they were polite and the situation was appropriate. I have always found most Australian celebrities to be the same. (but not all, of course!)

In the early days of his career, Heath Ledger was known to respond to fan mail sent through his Australian agent with personalised or authentic photographs etc. but, like all celebrities, unfortunately, when they find themselves working flat out and full-time, they just don't have the time to respond as they originally did, even though I'm sure many would like to. For example, I have authentic, personalised photos from the child stars of 'Harry Potter', way back when the first film was released, and even a hand-written note from one of them, but they have just become too 'big' to do this kind of thing anymore; they are too busy. These days, I think those of us who collect through the mail are lucky to receive any responses at all from some people, and auto pens are the most common thing, which is unfortunate, but better than nothing.

I hope that those who are seeking Heath Ledger's autograph are able to get it but please don't buy anything from Ebay or places of that nature, statistics show that about 80% - 85% signatures sold on public auction sites are fakes and people are getting ripped off worldwide by sellers trying to make money. If anyone is going to purchase an autograph of any celebrity, make sure you do so through a well-respected and reputable source or you are being taken for a ride and making others rich!

Good luck with your collecting everyone.

Cheers,

Irish_Eyes

While I realise that this particular section of Fanmail Biz is dedicated to the purchase or trade of autographs and I respect everybody's right to do so, I find it somewhat 'tacky' and tasteless to be seeking an autograph of someone who has only just passed away within the last few hours. Surely it would be more appropriate to wait in circumstances such as these?

It is well known that Heath Ledger's authentic autograph was quite easy to obtain (At least it was well known to Australian fans), either through the mail or by purchase at reasonable prices, and chasing it just now seems far too 'commercial'.

I do not mean to offend, but a 28 year-old man has died, leaving behind a grieving family and a 2 year-old daughter, can we not at least have some respect in these circumstances?

Was it easy to obtain through the mail? I hadn't seen any successes from him through agencies, and if anything at all, just autopens.

When I wrote this topic I wasn't aware that he had recently passed away. If I had known that he did I would have never posted this subject. Sorry to have offended you

Thank you for your help. I think I will wait a couple of months before I try to buy one.

I got one from him years ago. And I would never get rid of it. I do know of a respected UACC dealer that has 1 or 2 for sale. But they will set you back about $150,-. Wait till the fuzz dies down and try again in a few months. But chances are, it will cost you about $100,- even then.

If I were you I would wait. His death yesterday will result in an immediate mark up in price, and because of this there will also be an increase of fakes around, with people trying to capitalise on it (as always when someone famous dies). Wait a few months, then look on a well respected site. Do not use eBay or trade with anyone on here for it.

Be warned though, an authentic will be vastly sought after and very expensive. Ive seen one authentic going for close to $300, and before his death it was only around $40.

Now is not the time to try and buy his autograph.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
