It's not the fault of the average fan that causes autograph prices to go up... its the dealers and ebayers that have caused this mess.

Your average die hard Cal Ripken fan (or any other sports/celeb fan) will go to a convention and maybe buy 1 or 2 autographs of him at the most.

It's the dealer who will go to these shows, and pay for dozens if not hundreds or Ripken autographs at a bulk/discounted rate, and turn around and sell them in his store/ebay.

Yes they are all jerks and if it wasn't for the rich morons with way too much money that are willing to pay them that price for their autographs maybe their average fans would actually be able to get one from them without paying a full week's salary.

As for The Mick he had to charge a fortune for his autograph so that he could afford his next bottle of liquor to treat his alcoholism.

lol

$100.00 is a full weeks salary? Where do you live, some third world country in the Middle East?

Since you are probably to young and dumb to remember when Mickey Mantle did charge for his autograph back in the late 80's early 90's.... he was charging about $20.00 an autograph back then. It wasn't until he died and the advent/popularity of the internet, that the value of his autograph sky rocketed.

I didnt realize just how ignorant you really were until I read comment about Mick. Oh, and if you wanna not spend a weeks salary on an autograph, get a better job then flipping burgers at McDonalds.
You definitely shouldn't be on this forum thinking like that. You are probably one of those losers that would post a Mickey Mantle signed picture in the for sale section thinking that one of the 13 year olds that make up 90% of the forum population will be willing to buy it off you for $400.

Take your rich fat butt to another place on the internet if you can afford to pay those moronic prices.

I would agree. I've met him several times IP, whether at conventions or at games.

He is a very nice guy.

I find it funny when people will call an athlete or celeb a jerk b/c they won't sign autographs for free.

Are these sports legends jerks because they charge? Or how about all of the other THOUSANDS who charge for autographs... Someone is gonna make money off of it, either them or a greedy fan who is looking to make a quick buck off their name, so why shouldn't they be the one to make the money off of it. They are the ones who put in the years and years of time and practice that pushed them to the level that they made it tio.

I'm willing to bet that if you were as amazing as the names I listed, you would be charging double their prices for autographs. Please just keep your mouth shut. Its people like you that give this hobby a bad rap. As for calling someone a jerk because they charge at shows or because they wont sign thousands of autographs for free TTM each week, maybe you need to look in the mirror before you start the name calling. Ripken is one of the true greats of the game, and is the same to his fans!!!!!!!

Doubt that he charges that price or else his average PSA/DNA signed ball on Ebay wouldn't go at auction for only $60. People would be losing a lot of money. Cal Ripken Jr. is one of the best signers in the sport.

He charges that much and even more!

Pay attention to the sports conventions that pop up now and then.

Here are his prices for the 2012 Sports National Convention....

Regular Item - Flat item up to and including 11x14 or baseball $149
Premium Item - Flat item larger than 11x14 $179
Cap/Equipment - Cap or equipment (other than Full Size items) $189
Full Size Item - Full size bat, jersey, jersey number or artwork $249
Inscription - One (1) career achievement or personalization up to 5 words $50
