I wrote to him, I'd heard about the Nobel prize win and his work is going to play a major part in the future of mankind.

Got mine back yesterday with a nice gurdon institute letter.

Sent: on 15 November 2012 I sent e-mail to Professor John Gurdon (Nobel Prize)
Received: 28 November 2012 received signed photo

And can you imagine – he answered per e-mail and the signed photo was included as attachment. Never seen this before. Have I now an autograph or have I not? I suppose he didn't like my letter. ;)
