There's nothing particularly "good" or "bad" (or, alternatively, "right" or "wrong" about requesting and receiving pre-prints. For some celebrities and/or collectors, it's a compromise that enables one to provide something and the other to receive something.
That being said, the only thing that I would suggest is that if all you want are pre-prints, just send your e-mails to the addresses at celebritymerch.com or studiofanmail.com. There's no reason for you to waste your postage and supplies, if all you're going to receive are pre-prints.
