Did he personalize it and write a message? Secretaries can do a signature, but if he wrote your name, it has to be real. Secretaries can know a font, but it is unlikely. They just know the signature and maybe (even this is unlikely) a message that the celebrity writes to everyone. So if it was personalized, it was real. {up}

Yes indeed, that's one of his authentic signatures.

Great, Trevor!

The price is definitely high for a private signing but unless we can appeal to a good nature of his assistant or himself, it will be the only way to obtain an authentic autograph via mail.

I wish these type of difficult signers private signings (Ed O'Neill is doing one too) would have started 5-10 years ago for toughies like Tony Curtis, Paul Newman or Charlton Heston who have passed though there's still a lot of secretarial users around now!

Not sure about CJ but I wasted probably close to $30-40 on sending to Dick Van Dyke (on postage, envelopes, photo purchases). It was all a big waste. Would much rather spend $89 knowing I will get a 100 % authentic autograph and not one that is "real" because Dick "authorizes" someone to sign his name for them.
What do you think of mine? I sent mine to Julie Andrews hoping she will sign it. I hope I didn't waste my time and money.

Yes, that's the normal secretarial. Julie will probably sign it, as she seems to sign special items and her book but unfortunately it has been ruined by Dick Van Dyke's secretary.

Any serious, experienced collector will be honest with you like I am being. Anyone else trying to tell you otherwise is probably just trying to reason the waste of money they spent on the fakes. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. Secretaries are meant to "fool" us without really trying deceive us like a forger would. On another board, I spent years touting how awesome Charlton Heston was signing for so many years. Now, I spend a little time acknowledging that all the autographs I obtained ttm were, in fact, fake.

I say the word experienced because long time collectors learn from experience, whether good (authentic successes) or bad (secretarials being the worst).
