John McCain is a tough ttm signature. Since I've been collecting, I've seen so many different autopen signatures on different photos and letters. The content of the letters hasn't changed much, though.
I think the good way would be to request a signed book plate or send in one of his books. And even now, I'm not totally sure about that as I saw on some site that he was using secretaries to sign. The difference was between his handwriting (block/print letters for personalizations) versus secretaries (neater, cursive handwriting).
Years ago, one could fill out a form on his website to have a bookplate (signed sticker to put in one of his published books) to be sent to them. Not sure if that's still possible.
