My previous posting on my job was driving me to drink but this new one I'm at, it's like I've got a new lease of life, the people are less stuffy and really friendly and I've fallen in love with my job again.
Just like you postie's just walked past, no autographs again today
I send requests to America and they come back long before the UK ones and a lot of the agents aren't that far from me.
How's your success rate overseas ??? Mine's pretty good really. When I first started collecting I just put in my l.o.r and s.a.e and hoped for the best. Now I include my own pictures as well and am certain to get a 'nice' picture.
I've never actually sent overseas because I have trouble obtaining foreign stamps and I would much rather get some money exchanged into Euros or Dollars or something to enclose in the package so that they could buy the stamps over there.
I want Catherine Schell who used to be in Space 1999 , she lives in France and runs a little bistro for a few months a year but I think I've missed my window of opportunity on that one for this year. I'll have to send to her in April 2016. I think she only runs it between end of March and end of October.
I also want Eva Green who was in Casino Royale and is currently in the superb Penny Dreadful, might have to do a combined French mission next year.
As I said my success rate is pretty good, I used to buy International reply coupons as payment for returns but the the post office stopped doing them. I have a friend in the States who sends me stamps every so often. She's a Gillian Anderson fan so I pick up bits and pieces for her and then she 'pays' me in stamps. I've sent to big names eg Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, Raquel Welch, Jacqueline Smith, and many more. One of my favourites is Tatum O'Neal, she signed and dedicated my Paper Moon photo + another. Then I wrote to her again and she signed some of my International Velvet promo items. As far as Europe goes I've been successful with Sophia Loren, Bridgette Bardot, Gina Lolobridgida (?) I even managed to get the German Beach Volleyball Team. They also added extra signed pictures. All of the signed the pictures I sent.
