You might not have gotten a success because you're supposed to send to his wife Constance Towers asking for her autograph but also to throw in John Gavin's as well. Another reason why it might not have been a successful attempt is because Mr. Gavin refuses to sign photos of him from the film Psycho, but for all I know perhaps it's true that he is no longer signing. I hope that this is not the case as I'm a fan and I haven't sent him a request yet.

Got him about 3 yrs ago. Sent an item to his wife constance towers along with a john gavin photo and asked her if she could have him sign it he did. Guess I lucked out.

John Gavin (born Juan Vincent Apablasa; April 8, 1931) is an American film actor who was the United States Ambassador to Mexico from 1981 to 1986 and President of the Screen Actors Guild from 1971 to 1973. He is best known for his performances in the films Imitation of Life (1959), Spartacus (1960), Psycho (1960), and Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967), playing leading roles in a series of films for producer Ross Hunter.

Sent him 2 photos to sign on 6 Dec and they came back unsigned (21 Dec) with a printed note attached saying... "John Gavin no longer signs autographs. He is grateful for your ongoing interest and support."
