My worst job ever was a temp job, on the minimum wage, where I had to file and label 16,000 extremely jumbled up medical records in a doctors surgery. The people working there were really horrible and rude and expected me to finish the whole lot in a week whereas it actually took me a whole day just to do the letter "A". So I was really stressed out and deserved a lot more appreciation for doing such a dreadful, endless, frustrating job. Nobody even said thanks, they just treated me like dirt.
Also, the records had to go in large boxes which weighed three stone each (I stuck one on some scales) and I had to lug them around and lift them onto high shelves so I did my back in. No concept of health and safety at this place.
I can't begin to describe how bad it was. I was only there a fortnight and it seemed like forever.
I also worked as a waitress in a really bitchy pub and got fired after two and a half days. I hadn't done anything wrong, they just said I "wasn't fast enough with the plates." I'd never waitressed before and I was so scared about dropping them. Didn't give me much chance to learn, did they
Best job was my voluntary placement for 6 months working with mentally ill teenagers. We did art, drama, played badminton, baked cakes, gardening, it was so much fun and everyone there was really great. It was such a laugh and great experience for me. I miss them all a lot.
