They are both superb. Jack's was a more playfull joker which is what I prefer so he just takes it for me but Heath (who I hadnt seen any of his work before) was just amazing, how he got in to that role, just mindblowing. Unfortuantely if it wasnt for such a strong performance from him the film wouldnt have been a that good atall. What a loss.

Personally I just loved Heath Ledger as the Joker. He gave me chills being this psychotic character but still he was able to make some funny scenes. Heath's Joker gotta be my all time favorite movie character. I really wish Heath will get his Oscar in February (*fingers crossed*). He deserves it.

Nicholson all the way. To be honest, I don't get whats so great about Heath Ledger in that film. I thought Dark Knight was pretty boring, very predictable...and that licking his mouth thing was just annoying. Not saying he wasn't any good, I just didn't find it anything special. I'm not a fan of when they go out of their way to look 'dark' and 'gritty'. Can't beat a bit of Nicholson, who did have kinda dark moments but also got the humour through. Best of both worlds.

"Ever dance with the devil by the pale moonlight?"

Cesar Romero. Ah man. Thats one brilliant TV series, and the film? Top notch. Now THATS entertainment. I'd watch that over Dark Knight any day.

I liked Heath Ledger myself. He was a talent that I'm going to miss

I can't help but laugh my bottom off when I watch that movie. Especially with the shark-repellant spray

You can't compare the Heath Ledger's Joker to Jack Nicholson's Joker, they were both played in completely different ways. It'd be like trying to compare Christian Bale's Batman to Adam West's Batman.

They both did a great job of playing the character how it needed to be played at the time, with Ledger arguably having the more difficult performance and therefore deserving more credit for pulling off the disturbing role so well, and being so commited to it, that it eventually would play a part in his death.

Heath added a dark, disturbing element to The Joker, which I really liked.
I think Nicholson completely lacked that in his portrayal of the charatcer.

My favourite Batman villian ever though? Probably De Vito, as The Penguin. I also thought Jim Carrey was brilliant as The Riddler.

:D

Although I loved Heath in The Knight's Tale, I must say that Nicholson was much better Joker.
