The US economy is bad now, but I think it's at its worst. Manufacturing is coming back a little and the stock market is slowly rising. 2009 should be better than the second half of 2008.

I personally am making much less than I had in years past. My pay is slightly higher, but with the reduction of production in our plant my hours are much less. I was working 6 days a week and now I'm down to five. Years ago when we were really busy I was working 7 days.

The bright side is now that I have more time to send out autograph requests.

In Ireland, things are really bad, due to an incompetent government, and I mean ridiculously bad. Jobs going every single day, because we've priced ourselves out of competition with high wages. Empty houses everywhere, because building contractors can't sell them. Shops closing. No plan from the government. Actually, strike that, they released a plan last week, that was simply aspirational, hypothetical and vague.

And things aren't really going to get a whole lot better until countries like the States recover, as we depend wholly on foreign investment and foreign companies, as thanks to the government, we have zero homegrown industries.

Crime is getting worse. High instance of knife crime. There's a major traveller feud in my town, which has left a lot of people injured, dead animals, destruction. Really horrible at the moment.

The UK is really nose diving at the moment, mainly because our Prime Minister doesn't know his head from his backside! Tony Blair had his bad points but I would take him over Gordon Brown any day. The guy just hasn't got a clue!

So many of our big businesses are going bust. Just in my town we have lost Woolworths, Roseby's, Card Fair & Threshers! Soon we just wont have any shops left!!!!

Then there's the crime rate! So many stabbing's - it's unreal! I don't think a day goes by when you don't read in the nationals about someone being stabbed.

It really cuts me up to think about it sometimes :(

Hey,
I am very sorry for those whose life is also a mess but still happy for those whose own is quite ok.The murder rate is still going up.I think it is 540 now  .Anyway, the little girl who I said was shot,I went to her funeral :( .She looked so sweet, like a princess. She wore a white dress with a crown and gloves. Her coffin was like a jewel box.I guess to show how precious she was.On top of that, she was a major hannah montana fan. While waiting for her to reach home, they played her hannah montana cd and she has buried with a huge hannah montana mat on top of her coffin because she wanted it for Christmas and her family were going to but it for her  .Very sad!

Sadly, that's true [I live in the US too.]. :(

Where I live, (I know we're not talking about cities, but...) it seems like everyone is trying to kill one another. :(
