Interestingly enough, I wrote that to debunk this:

If you read my post correctly, it doesn't state that the Spanish flu should be the standard, but rather why it shouldn't be. This was because you compared the Swine flu to the Spanish flu in order to declassify it as a worldwide pandemic. In counterpoint, I said they shouldn't be compared, and if "the Spanish flu were to be the standard, we'd have no other pandemics". That of course can be considered a bit of an exaggeration, but it acknowledges just how deadly it was, and why it shouldn't be used as a standard to be compared against. It was a lot like saying LeBron James is just a standard basketball player.
Of course, I didn't realize that you had misunderstood me, which is why the Smallpox post made no sense to me:

From my point of view at the time, it was actually a pretty hilarious statement because it looked like you debunked your own previous statement by making a more ridiculous one.. of course, now I can see why you posted it.
Debates are an exchange of theories and opinions, so there's always going to be a disagreement.. as long as it doesn't escalate.. no worries. Of course, this turned out to be more of a misunderstanding than a debate.
