I haven't been a member for long, so I don't think that I can say who is a good mod or not, because I just don't know everybody well enough yet. But I do think this is something that deserves some rules.

Good luck beecs, I'm sure you'll do a great job.:-)

Lets put something into perspective here.

TMs are currently being promoted to the postion regardless of age, maturity, or knowledge. The majority of TMs do it for "the status" (not all, but most). They gain this position by sending a PM, or by joining a TM group and getting OK'd.

Lets travel back to around 2005/2006. At this point I was extremely regular on the forum, and had seveal years experience. I asked to be a TM. I was told no. After a discussion, I was then told I had to have a 3 month probation period before I was even allowed to be a TM[/b].

I eventually got the TM place, then the Autograph Expert position. Then I was banned because I repeatedly asked admin to stop promoting 8yr olds to TM, to stop promoting newbs to TM, to stop just promoting ANYONE to TM who asked for it. I explained many times the failings of the TM system were negatively affecting the forum. It was true, and pretty much all the other Mods agreed.

Did admin take this constructive criticism on board?

No, he just banned me instead. And if that doesnt tell you all you need to know about the way the forum is run by admin, nothing will.

But for the record, admin ignored sexual threats from one member to another. Admin ignored numerous continued harrassment of members. And many more.

All of the above is 100% true.

I agree Sammya. And that was more fair. Not anyone could become one (unless you asked at admin team...I ended at that team but I used to be at Liz's one, after at Chrissy's one and when I had trouble and asked admin about it, he solved that with moving me into his team). We had TM's with 10 posts! And those that don't do anything on that forum, many of them are totally unknown to me and I can't remember that they ever helped someone. That's sad but we can't do anything about it, it is discussed over and over again but Admin is the one who can make the main decision.

I really hate that anyone can become a TM these days (not speaking of you, beecs, I'm sure you'd be a great Mod!) because it depreciates the status of other Mods who became one because they asked a GM and had to be approved, like myself.

Please be aware that the majority of the moderation team have the same feelings dfreely, but our attempts to improve the forum are largely ignored and we must work with the system Admin has put in place. We do as best we can.

mufcdd wrote:Ive been saying this for 4 years, and I actually got banned as an Autograph Expert/Moderator for challenging admin on this numerous times. 95% of the TMs are pointless, and shouldnt be anywhere near a position of "power" as they let it go to their heads and ruin threads.
Sometimes you have to wonder whether this forum is a dictatorship, or inmates running the asylum. A moderation team should be about quality, not quantity.

beecs, do know that absolutely none of this negativity is directed towards you. It's just the system.
