What your saying is most likely true,and I have absolutely no idea what B.C. is like, however I think the boost to your tourism industry would be of far greater benefit to the people then a new bridge. Although I def. agree about the need for the event to be "for the people", so if the tickets are too expensive, then that is definitely not on. But I think people these days have forgotten how to have fun

Hell, the government in my state spends money on jack squat anyway,so I would love it if they spent money on a international event!
On a side note, when the media says "the taxpayers have to pay" etc etc, I always feel it is deliberately inflaming. People sadly have to pay tax anyway,and the tax rate does not increase specifically for these things. Besides people don't have a say of where the money goes anyhow, so as long as it is not being used to say, transport a convicted terrorist back to my hometown(that actually did happen), it really should not mater.
