Update: As I've mentioned I'm really big on envelopes having an ability to draw attention to the request when it's laying in a pile of other envelopes. I was unsatisfied at the fact that I couldn't find colored 9x12 envelopes to use to mail to the celeb. Manilla or white only. I found some ultra pink online. I'll use the white ones for the return trip to save a little money.

Does anyone else get this tickled over choosing office supplies? It's not just for autograph related materials or other letters. I'm just tickled pink about this. Kinda weird, huh?

I pay a lot of attention to the envelopes that I send to the celeb. I use business sized envelopes of different colors and various textures/weight, and some even have patterns. I feel that an interesting envelope may give the LOR a better chance of getting picked up in the first round.

For SASEs I use the 9x12 white ones that have the strip seal.

I always look at the selection of stamps at the Post Office and pick the kind that bests suits my personality. I don't give perferential treatment to forever stamps. When my financial sitution improves I'm going to get a selection of stamp books at one time and hand pick accordingly.

I have return address lables. I uploaded the picture that is my avatar here as part of the label. I got those from Vista Print, but they do tend to message my email account too much. That's annoying.

Right now I'm using colored lined legal pads. I have a large selection of computer paper brought at discount prices. My handwriting gets really big when I don't have lines, even when I'm trying the lined sheet underneath the actual paper trick.

I have some pens that I mainly use for autograph requests. The nearest one I just grabbed is Pilot Precise V5. I don't like ballpoint pens for much other than notetaking. I like gel ink and the liquid type ink. For my journaling I even have the archival safe ink.

I've started to use photographs instead of just sending an index card to be signed in case they don't have a photo. The index cards I have currently are unlined and in neon colors.

I have a variety of envelope seals which I place in the center of the flap with two small pieces of tape on either side of the seal. I don't lick envelopes if I can avoid it. I've been so lazy lately that I've just been using the gold leaf seal instead of hand picking. Now I'll probably run out of those before I pick up my family history research again. (You know, leaf on a family tree= the reason I bought so many of that kind.)


By the way, I sometimes use the trick Ryan does and work out what I'm going to say on the computer before I hand write the letters. Sometimes I just wing it and send what comes out in the first draft or two. I'm going to stop cutting corners that way because I feel like I haven't done my best and that tarnishes the experience.

i used color paper right now im using pink:) i also used 9 by 12 envlopes and i put an sase in all my letters. i used stickers to make my letters and my envlopes stand out.

#10 20 pound business size envelopes-or-#6 and 3-4th 20 pound envelopes (Lick N seal)
Brand: Mead. If I get lucky, I will get the self-adheiseve envelopes.

Stamps: I am currently using the first-class USA forever stamps which are at 44 cents ea. as of today. Design: Kansas.

Well I've just very recently started to write again, I use to use just whatever cheap paper and envelopes I had at hand, I didn't bother getting any 'good stuff'.

However, since I'm going to start writing again, I bought Basildon Bond paper, which is just plain paper with a lined sheet that you can put behind it so that I'm able to write in a straight line. It's not expensive, and it's A5 in size.

As for envelopes, well I'll just be going to the local pound shop for them I guess and I'll just be using a trusty biro pen :razz:

Oh as for stamps, I use 1st Class for UK and I'm going to be using $1 and $0.28 stamps for US

I use cheap white printing paper purchased at the dollar store (or lined notebook paper if they are out of the plain white paper) and a cheap blue bic pen that comes in a package of 12. I use the cheap envelopes from Walmart or Target. What with everyone else trying to outshine the other guy, I figure my cheap stuff probably stands out better.

I usually use regular lined file paper, a black gel or ink pen (I used to use my fountain pen before it went AWOL), Tesco A5 envelopes (cheapest ones), Rymans index cards (6x4). 2nd class UK stamps, US Forever Stamps. And photos printed at Asda

I use self sealing rigid photo mailers for the return envelope and i write my letters usually on cool or unique writing paper that i manage to find at the dollar store believe it or not and its nice quality or sometimes i use regular lined paper but only if its colored never plain white paper for me it's too boring...I hand write the letters with my parker pen or lately i have been using the sharpie pens which i kinda like using now but i never rewrite letters or try to get them perfect because they don't have to be perfect,im not perfect the celeb isn't perfect and it's not a perfect world lol Then i put it all together in a padded envelope and send it off !!! My envelope choices cost abit more to buy and for postage but worth it for the protection factor.
