NO everyone calls SAE a [b]stamped addressed envelope.[/b] in Britain. I know well-educated people who know that it is a stamped addressed envelope. If you look in British magazines, it says sometimes 'stamped addressed envelope' if it is letting you send off for something through the post.

In the UK "SAE" means stamped addressed envelope. It means the same as "SASE". Since everywhere else "SAE" means as you say, self addressed envelope, generally us UKers have gotten used to using "SASE" here to imply when stamps are used.

no. SAE is stamped addressed envelope. We don't use SASE generally in Britain, but I think British people on this site have started using it as most people on this site are from America and Australia , so that we all understand each other.
