Usually the four years directly after high school (ages 18 to 22/23), following the same ranking (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior). However, because college is "optional" and usually doesn't have much in terms of age limitation, some people may choose to put it off for a year, not go at all, or attend much later in life.

Additionally, in some areas where the number of schools are limited, there may not be a middle school and those grades (6-8) are instead covered either by an elementary school, high school or both.

Hi next year I need to select which university to go to and which degree I want to take, I want to be a teacher and move to America to teach, the only thing is I dont know how the school system works over there, I was wondering whether any one could help me by if I make a list of the school Years and ages they use in England whether you could tell me what Grade it would be in America nad which School it would be in like whether its high school or middle school.
