America doesn't observe Boxing Day.. I think it's just a Commonwealth thing. I'd imagine many Americans have probably never even heard of Boxing Day. I hear it's somewhat similar to our Black Friday though, when all the stores throw massive sales and everyone goes shopping. That day's right after Thanksgiving.
