I'm sure a lot of people would be all for a no trolling rule. I mean it is a common rule on other sites to not troll... Besides we have a forum already for authenticating other autographs, you don't need to do that in Feedback... Feedback is just for saying which addresses will send back things. Plus the rudeness on here is a big turn off for me, and it looks like I'm not the only one who feels this way. Something should be done about it, shouldn't be too hard to make this rule.
Or at least make a rule in feedback for not asking about or posting about authenticating since there is a forum for that already.
Okay, let's wake up and see the reality of this....
1. Pointing out that an item is not genuine is not trolling.
2. Posting "troll", "you're a hater", or these ridiculous "rent free" digs constantly is.
3. The same applies to this ridiculous habit of using signature lines to mock other posters.
4. Yes, there's a "is my autograph authentic?" forum, but someone who believes that they have an authentic will not post in there as they see no need.
5. I still do not understand why pointing out something being non authentic is an issue... it would happen on ANY autograph forum. It would happen on any forum of any sort. "Hey, I just bought this awesome work by one of the Old Masters. You say it's a fake? Hell no, I don't want to know that, I just spent money on it". "What do you mean this rare football programme I just bought is a reprint? I don't believe you, go away"
6. Admin doesn't care, the mods have no power. That's why people are allowed to have free reign, it's why there are no rules per se any more, it's why the trolls and trouble makers get away with what they want.
7. Above all, the trolls are easy to spot. They're the ones who post the same thing over and over again, the same phrases or the same ideas. With zero back up of ideas other than "I'm right and I will keep on saying it".
8 To give you a real idea about how moronic some of these people can be... at least one of them likes to come on my charity fundraising blog and leave abusive comments on it. They're not intelligent enough to know that there is an auto filter on it to stop those comments being seen. They also seem incapable of realising the block button on here allows comments to be ignored. Great fun, as they're never even seen and despite this some posters continue to post comments directed at me.
9. We are all guilty of biting at trolls, when you shouldn't, me included but the fact is if you don't feed them, they get bored. Engaging in drama queen behaviour with them does nothing but continue things. I wonder how quickly certain posters would shut up if everyone who actually posts on this forum with common sense hit that block button (ironically titled "add foe") and didn't engage them in conversation. After all, if you can't see the dross they post, you don't feel compelled to respond.
Bottom line, again, this is a forum on the internet. It's for the public to use. If you can't handle other people's opinions on what is REALITY then the internet might not be the place for you to interact. If someone is bullying, abusive or troublemaking, call them on it but if you're just going to sit back and say "I don't think people should comment on authenticity because it's not right" then a reality check is needed.
