Though there is a computer virus out there right now disguised as being sent an e-card, it does not quite work the way it was described in the original post. The emails you get have a link and the link will be one that may cause a virus on your computer. The virus that "destroys sector zero" is just a hoax.

Anyone of my family that sends a card would send to me in actual mail. Half don't even have computers! lol

General rule: delete anything that you do not know who it is from.

Yeah it's usually stupid I just delete it because if it was a family member, they'ld just put their name.. lol it's not like the site knows if it's related or whatever.

Becareful of e-mails titles, 'You've received a Post Card from a Family member'
Quote:
I actually just read about this on MSNBC.com breaking news. It mostly is affecting Windows XP and Vista.

Microsoft and McAfee are working on a patch/update to combat this thing that should be available by 7 January.

-- CNN announced -- Snopes confirms as real --

A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive ever. This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by McAfee This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are stored.

This virus acts in the following manner:
It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the
title:

'You've received a Post Card from a Family member'.

As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+ delkeys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New York, according to news broadcast by CNN.

This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself.

So don't open any mails with subject:' A Post Card from . ' As soon as you get the mail, delete it !! Even if you know the sender !!!

Please pass this mail to all of your friends.
