If you truly love their music, then the concert itself will be worthwhile and you should have a great time (provided they're not horrible live, haha). I recommend everyone go to at least a few every year. There's nothing else like a screaming crowd and a loud live band playing.

As for meet and greets, prices and the level of interaction will vary with the artist. My favorite band, Dream Theater, had a package which included 2 photos with the guys, a gift certificate to their online store, an autographed band picture, T-shirt, premium seats to the show, early entry, and about 30 mins to chit chat with them afterwards. Pretty good deal! Recently, I got a package for Kelly Clarkson which only composed of a 10 second conversation as you took a photo with her and an autographed picture. Not as good, but she's way more well known. You can only imagine how worse it would get for a bigger name. I read on her website that Celine Dion's packages can range up to $2000!

Of course, if they play in a very small venue, then you don't even have to pay anything and just wait around near the bus. In fact, I've met 100% of the bands I've tried waiting for because they're not well known in the US.

^Anyone have suggestions? I'm thinking of asking my mom whether we could go to a Avril Lavigne Concert with VIP and meet & greet

Awesome. What's the difference btw box ticket and ticketmaster. Do you carry around a camcorder or a camera?

When I go to a concert I only buy the Pit tickets or standing. When I go to a concert I don't want to be sitting, it's not fun to me at all. Also, as far a price I ususally got to smaller venues so the prices are cheaper and if you buy them at the box office instead of ticketmaster there is no service charge. Sometimes the services charges can be $20 or more depending on how much the tickets are. I have been to quite a few shows where after the band has played they will sell t-shirts etc and also sign autographs at their booth.

i would also say standing probably depends on your age, if you're not too tall/big you might be better of seating cos people push around and you always get someone tall in front. plus with seating you're guaranteed a spot.
Thanks I think I might try seating first. Not many going on where I live so... Thanks

What exactly are standing tickets? Thanks for your input. This will help me loads when I talk to my parents about concerts.

In my experience, its always better if you can get a standing ticket. ive been to quite a few anyway, http://www.last.fm/user/10bobrevolution/events/

Meeting acts pretty much depends on who you're seeing. if they're some megafamous superact, then you've not got much chance. smaller bands though sometimes make the effort - theres one ive seen a couple of times and they hang out in the nearest bar before/after the show and have a chat with the fans.

as for buying tickets off ebay - i wouldnt recomend it. mainly through principal in that its people buying them with the sole intention of selling them for profit that stops loads of proper fans getting a ticket, and then half the time you get done over. my friends got tickets for a festival last year on there, and they turned up two days after it finished.

its all definitely worth it anyway. you'll know if the price is right - the most expensive gig i went to was to see noel gallagher at the albert hall, £50 (roughly $100) but well worth it. brilliant venue, excellent show - and he did a couple of songs with paul weller. for me, that was priceless.

Meet and Greets.... I am not too sure about how can access them. Opening acts start maybe an hour or half an hour before the artist performs. That can be found through the artist's website. Remember to arrive a little bit before the concert. You never know what may go on! You can usually buy tickets on Ebay after they have gone on sale, but the prices are NEVER the same. I mean, prices I have seen boomed from hundreds to even one thousand dollars. Ticketmaster is generally good place to if you can't reach the box office the day tickets go on sale. But, TicketMaster and box office seats are different. Usually only a certain amount of people can be in line for tickets at a box office but the seats are a lot better. TicketMaster seats can be puchased by anyone but they are a mostly stadium seats rather than floor seats. (Always remember to get on TicketMaster RIGHT when they go on sale.) To find when they go on sale, check the artist's website. Sometimes their MySpace posts dates and times also. And I can't forget, to ME, good seats are low stadium seats on possibly back floor seats. I've really never gotten better than that. If you are fortunate, you could!

That's cool. I have some concerts I'd love to go to in mind. How early do they start showing the opening acts?? What I really want thopugh is to meet them. That'd be great.
