Well, at least we can now decide on who's TM's and who becomes mods! {up} That would help a lot to make this forum a much better place for all. {thumb2}

That's strange, BABii_ANG3L - as far as I know all the GM's can now fully control their teams - with just one click, you can make a member a TM on your team or promote them to a full mod, or even put someone on your team who's already a mod or TM.

Thanks,
zanne

I Think she means that ADMIN keeps on promoting people to TM when really, they should be a regular member.
haha stop reading my mind! :lol:

Capcha and email registration are useless with these new bots :neutral:
If the right CAPTCHA system is used- it's extremely difficult to bypass. Usually it would require the input from a human- as 99% of bots have no way of figuring out the text without either 1. a ginormous database of captchas and a cross referencing program, or 2. something like a pixel analyzer... and I am guessing these bots aren't nearly that high-tech. Even if there was another way around the Captcha, it should still help.
As for the email confirmation- that's when an email is verified by sending a link that a person must click- to finish registration. While a program could be scripted to do this, it would require a valid email. Not to mention the fact that you can have a registration authorization- like on Crownvic.net [they have over 14,000 members as well]. It requires the email verification along with a human to review the registration details. While this could be time intensive- it wouldn't be difficult, especially if there were more admins (I know that last statement will be controversial). Part of the reason there are so many spammers is because it's easy. That's why a lot of times car thieves will keep checking cars until one is unlocked- because it takes less effort than breaking in. Basically there are a number of ways the spammers/bots could be cut down.

I don't think it's fair, sorry.
You should PM your Team Leader about that :neutral:

I think what BABii_ANG3L meant was that we should STOP recruiting TM because then we will have the boards destroyed.

AND THE BOARD WAS JUST BEING SPAMMED 20 MINUTES AGO!

So what is the "upgrade" to the registration process that you mentioned? If cacapa and email confirmation is useless to bots, it should still be implemented to help stop HUMAN spammers like Tony. But whats the upgrade? Its the same as its always been from what I can see, and the forum was spammed about 20 minutes after you posted saying they couldnt do it anymore :neutral:
