I did that with the member "burnum" He wouldn't obey the Request an Address forum rules. I PM'd him about it and low and behold he finally quit violating the rules.

No problem. :P

I wasn't directing my previous post to anyone in particular, just that as moderators we should use the warning system very carefully. :wink:

If you see a member making a minor offence, I would personally suggest you PM the member first to establish whether they realise they have made a mistake.

You can tell them you are a moderator on the forum, and you plan to give them a formal warning if they do not change their behaviour (warn them of the warning!) Often I have found if you engage a problem member in PM conversation you can sort the problem without having to formally warn them!

I am not trying to criticise any moderator - I think (without exception) that you all do a really tremendous and worthwhile job, I have known most of you for quite a while now :P

I am just trying to help you have a less stressful time!

Please remember, you can PM me any time if you want advice, (I am around at some time every week day!)

Remember, you can only give somebody a warning if they are in breach of one of the terms of membership of Fanmail.biz, of if they have made some other (provable) intentional error.

I know how annoying it can be, but you can't be giving warnings just because somebody annoys you! :lol:

Although from reading what you said above it certainly looks like this member has a "vivid imagination", that does not constitute a warning on it's own :wink: Wait until they step out of line properly, and then you can warn them!

Please don't be too eager to issue warnings when a polite request or enquiry or PM will do a better / more friendly job! Has anybody PM'ed this member to ask them for more info? The whole warning system needs to be used with caution, otherwise it becomes ineffective!

Also, when you set the duration of the warning, please try to keep it realistic and in line with the severity of the offence.

Sorry if you don't agree with me, - but as the veteran moderator - as far as I am aware, thems the rules! :lol:

Hi everyone,

I have noticed that aside from his possibly fake success, this member has been acting sort of rude to other members and seems to have completely made up the numbers in his signature.

He recently posted this in a Katie Leung success:

"I got one, and not to rub it in, but MY LETTER BACK FROM HER ON THE PHOTO WAS LONGER!!! lol, sorry 'bout that!"
