New members with questionable websites

by nowandagain » Thu Mar 16, 2006 4:56 am

This has been a problem in the past, but I don't think it's gone completely.

I believe that a number of recent users may not be legitimate users who have signed up to this forum. Many of these so-called users could have websites of a questionable matter (I haven't checked, but their URL is suspicious - e.g porn, online pharmacies etc.) These members could have been created by bots, or worst still, people who wish to spam the forums using these accounts.

Some recent examples of members include: dating-web-site, Narciz, simenishka, matureporn, Jorik82, carriage9637, door1546, shelf9696 etc. There are many more on the list, but it'll take too long for me to list every single one.

Can these users be deactivated/removed from the members list, or better still (if possible,) ban the relevant IP's? I don't want to see another round of spam hitting the forums.
