I voted Yes {up} Im sure that he'd be a great contribution to the Request An Address forum and he's been really active as a JM to say the least. All in all, I think he'd do great as a Mod!

I think we should still give him a shot. He is great on request an address forum.

Well I can see your point, but I don't think it's fair to recruit JMs with the "2 Months and you'll be up for moderator" thing going, only to tell them in the end that there isn't a need for them.

Why recruit them in the first place then? If they ask to become a JM, simply tell them we don't need any right now, rather than waiting until evaluation time to say so.

I still stand by my "yes" though
Totally agree {up} There isn't any point if members go thru 2 months and then are told we don't need you. If that is the case, we should remove JM's altogether. But this isn't the case so they should be evaluated properly

I said Yes, although he is a great member on the forums, I also don't see the need for any new moderators at the moment.

Okay, I know you all probably hate me for this, but I voted no.

Yes, I agree he is a good member. Actually, he does a wonderful job in the "Request An Address" forum, BUT, sometimes (and maybe it is just my own feeling), he seems a bit impatient and rude to new users of the forum.
For example, I remember a time when a new user posted more than three address requests on the same day, and instead of reminding the user about the "request an address policy" AND helping them out, he only said something like "Please request only two to three addresses a day". I personally think that since the user is new to the forums, we should let them off this one time and do our best to find the addresses for them, instead of only giving them a reminder. Does it make sense what I am saying?

I also think Volante and Cernan has a good point. Of course, extra help around the forums would be great, but if there's too much help, that wouldn't be so great either. I know Danny puts in a lot of time in fanmail.biz, especially in the 'Request an Address forum', and since he is on so much, the other mods of that forum (including me) don't get too much chance to actually moderate the forum and help people out. Consequently, some of these mods go to other forums (such as feedback, general discussion, etc etc) to moderate/help out. This additional help causes the moderators of these other forums to "be out of their jobs", so to speak.

Okay, maybe all this doesn't make much sense. It's hard to put my ideas into words. But really, I also want to see the other "no-sayers" explain their reasons. Maybe then, we can find a compromise or something.

As for Danny, maybe we should give him one more month or so, and during that time, clean out the mods who are inactive around the forums.

Sorry about the long message

yep I agree, and I don't like the JM system. Why recruit new moderators all the time when there's no need. A forum of this size doesn't need this many, it can instead be negative.

Oh well :)
I was about to say the same thing. :| I personally don't think that we should keep on recruiting new JM's at a time when new moderators are not needed. We should temporarily prevent people from signing up to be a JM and lift that ban at a time when new moderators are needed. I don't see a need for more mods because I think that the current group does a wonderful job! :)
