Yes but it has never happened before, that's the thing. It's nothing to do with his pen, since the autograph isn't smudged in the slightest, it's the actual picture. I left it to dry, then I put it in the envelope then checked again before I posted it and it was fine. Like I've said, if the picture had got to Lionel like that I highly doubt he would have even bothered sending it back. Plus, the stamp was hanging on by a thread, which suggests the rain had also made that soggy. How else could you explain 2 things like that being wrong with it? :)

I think the matter could just be that the photo was rubbing against the inside of your SASE so it rubbed a bit of ink off. It might have something to do with Lionel's sharpie that he used. Just a possibility though.

Who knows where the letters get left! Also, if it's raining heavily the day that it gets delivered it could also get very wet then too. A few times I have been there as a letter got delivered and it was all soggy because it was raining. So it doesn't even need to be left in the rain, it could happen in a few seconds.
The only reason I've been able to come up with is the rain, but if anyone knows any other things that could have caused it then feel free to share! It would help me avoid it happening in the future :) If you read the rest of this thread you will see the other possibilities I have come up with and dismissed!

Yes, but writing "please do not bend" isn't going to stop it from getting wet in the rain! Getting a bent autograph isn't my problem, it's getting a wet one! :P
