J.J. Abrams Talks Upping The Ante In New Star Trek Into Darkness Featurette

Watch Iron Man 3 Online This upcoming weekend officially marks the start of summer in the movie industry, and the season is totally front-loaded with hotly-anticipated titles. Iron Man 3 kicks the month off with a bang this Friday, both Fast & Furious 6 and The Hangover Part III will be fighting for Memorial Day weekend, Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby will work to introduce some 1920s-style class, and the Enterprise will fly again in Star Trek Into Darkness. And in advance of the titles we can expect to be teased with all kinds of trailers, teasers, TV spots, clips and featurettes - for example the one above for Abrams' venture into deep space.

Watch Oblivion Online While the new Star Trek film isn't scheduled to hit theaters hear in the United States until May 17th, those who have friends living around the world may want to be on high spoiler alert over the next couple weeks as the film will be in many international markets as of next Tuesday, May 9th. If you desperately don't want to know the identity of Benedict Cumberbatch's mystery character than I highly recommend taking a step away from Facebook, Twitter, and the like.

Watch Iron Man 3 Online May 17th looks pretty far away even from April 29th, but at least you can be sure that there will be plenty more distractions to get you ready for the sci-fi sequel starring Chris Pine, Zachery Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Alice Eve and Peter Weller. Check out this cool poster you can get at special IMAX screenings, give this weird tie-in promo a watch, and stay tuned for more. While it is doubtful the phrase “Academy Award winner Sam Worthington” is going to sincerely come out of someone’s mouth anytime soon, the guy definitely has an enviable career, mixing gigantic budget affairs like Avatar and Wrath of the Titans with low-budget flicks like Texas Killing Fields. Put him in anything, and he’ll be serviceable. So why not a Civil War thriller?

Watch Mud Online Deadline reports he's the latest to join The Keeping Room, the second film from Harry Brown director Daniel Barber - and I think it’s safe to call him the male lead. He joins Brit Marling (Sound of My Voice), Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) and Nicole Beharie (42) in the film, which was written by Julia Hart. In The Keeping Room, Worthington will play a soldier in the last days of the Civil War who breaks off from the impending Union Army and stumbles upon a group of women who are left to fight for themselves. While it doesn’t say which side he’s on, I’m assuming this film will not feature his character murdering three women in cold blood, so there will probably be 1865 war games afoot with four against all.

WATCH THE BIG WEDDING ONLINE Next up, you’ll be able to see Worthington in the surf drama Drift – and we all know how great surfing dramas are – and he also stars in David Ayer’s upcoming action thriller Ten, with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Principal photography on The Keeping Room should start up some time in June, with the film looking for an unspecified release date in 2014.When it was revealed in February of this year that Smiley's People, the sequel to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, wouldn't be starting production until 2014, it opened a gap in director Tomas Alfredson's schedule. And it was not just any gap - it was a gap that would allow him to move forward on the fantasy feature The Brothers Lionheart.

Watch 42 Online Swedish website MovieZine (via The Playlist) has confirmed that the Astrid Lindgren adaptation will be the next film on the slate for the Let The Right One In director. For those unfamiliar with the children's books, the plot follows two brothers who go on adventures in the afterlife. The material is best known for the way it approaches dark themes with such young characters. The source says that the movie "will become the most expensive movie ever made in Scandinavia," working with a budget of $50 million (which, by comparison, is about one quarter the budget of The Avengers). Production is planned to start this summer with Alfredson reteaming with Director of Photography Hoyte van Hoytema, who made headlines recently having been selected as Christopher Nolan's replacement for the Oscar-winning Wally Pfister on the sci-fi pic Interstellar.

WATCH Warm Bodies ONLINE According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carnahan is close to signing yet another deal, this time to direct an adaptation of the Chuck Hogan novel "Devils in Exile" titled Sugar Bandits. Hogan is adapting the book himself. The story follows an Iraq War veteran named Neal Maven who, facing serious financial problems living in Boston, decides to team up with a group of other soldiers to steal money from drug dealers and destroy their product. Hogan actually has some experience in Hollywood having scripted Ben Affleck's The Town.

WATCH A Good Day To Die Hard ONLINE Carnahan is a better filmmaker when he's making more serious material, so this sounds right up his alley. Unfortunately, the trade doesn't mention where this one might fall in the director's schedule, so who knows when he'll actually get to make it. Kevin Costner received positive marks the last time he worked with director Mike Binder, starring alongside Joan Allen in the 2001 dramedy The Upside of Anger, so it's fitting that the pair would be willing to work together on another project. A report has come from Deadline saying that the actor is now set to play the lead in Binder's indie drama Black and White.

Watch Scary Movie 5 Online The book was previously adapted by director Olle Hellbom in 1977, who directed an all-Swedish language version of the story. Alfredson will be directing his version in English as to appeal to a wider global audience. The site says that the movie will be in theaters for Christmas 2014, but that's likely the theatrical date in Sweden rather than here in the United States. "Papa" Joe Carnahan has faced a weird, long road since he released the critically-acclaimed drama The Grey back in January of last year. First there were his plans to direct a remake of Death Wish, but that fell apart because the filmmaker didn't want to cast Bruce Willis in the lead role. Then there were his plans to reboot the Marvel Comics character Daredevil at 20th Century Fox, but that project couldn't get together fast enough and the rights to the man without fear reverted back to Marvel Studios. We've also heard stories about Stretch with Patrick Wilson, the action flick Continue, and the adaptation of Undying Love, but it's been hard to say exactly what direction he was heading. And today yet another movie has entered the picture.

Based on an original screenplay by the director, the film will star Costner as a widowed grandfather who has raised his bi-racial granddaughter ever since his daughter, the girl's mother, died during childbirth. His role as guardian is questioned, however, when the child's paternal grandmother sues for custody. As the trade notes, the case "becomes about race and where she should grow up." The film will be the first that Binder has directed since 2007's Reign Over Me, starring Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle. The new movie looks to start filming in New Orleans this summer, once Costner's schedule has cleared up.
