I sent a LOR, one 5x7 photo, and a SASE to Jim Carter via the Downton Abbey set address (Ealing Studios in London; address is no longer valid because the series finale wrapped in August). I was beginning to wonder whether I'd hear back from any of the several cast members to whom I sent letters, but then I was pleasantly surprised by Mr. Carter's kind response.
I don't remember the exact date that I sent it, but I know it was around June/early July because the address was supposed to only be valid until August 11th (and I'm fairly certain I gave myself at least a month). I received the response on Tuesday, October 6th, making the response time somewhere between 3-4 months (which is pretty good since I live in the U.S.). I was also concerned that I may not have used enough postage, but I'm very pleased to see my calculations were sufficient. I love Downton Abbey and I couldn't be more pleased with having received at least one response!
