I would start out by introducing yourself a bit, eg.

[quote]Dear xxxxxx

My name is xxxxx , I am xxxxx years old and I live in xxxxxxxxxxxxx.

I just thought I would write to say how much I love your work on / in xxxxxx, especially the bit where xxxxxxx.[/quote]

I would then write what you feel you want to write, i.e go into a bit more detail about what you like about them etc.

Towards the end I would say something like:

[quote]I do not want to be a problem, but I would be very grateful if you would be generous enough to send me an autographed photograph of yourself? I have enclosed a postage paid envelope for you to use if you are able to help me.

However, autograph or not I would like to wish you all the very best and continued success in your career.[/quote]

Then sign off however you wish.

I hope this has been of some use to you, but you really need to word your letter in a way you personally feel happy about.
