Right, so today I sent my first two letters out, I am from Canada by the way. my first, over to England where I am hoping to get an autograph from Owen Hargreaves, and the second to the USA for Stan Lee (WOOT!). Anyway, I enclosed a SASE with the pics I want signed, and I put a Canadian stamp on it, is this wrong?
You needed to of put UK stamps on your SSAE from Owen and US stamps on your SSAE to Stan. You cant use your own stamps to send from other countries

Do I need to put something else, are IRC's necessary?
Not if you have paid postage with stamps O

Feel free to ask anymore questions {thumb2}

Hey,

I understand what you're talking about (since I'm Canadian too). I'll do my best to explain.
The $1.65 stamps are "international" stamps. So, instead of putting like 3 $0.54 stamps plus another 3 cents on your envelope they made stamps so you wouldn't have to do that. Just like the "US" stamps. You can only use Canadian stamps when sending FROM Canada. They are no good to put on an SASE, as you need actual stamps from the country you have sent to. So, for example, if you are sending to the USA, on the SASE you would need to buy American stamps to put on it. You cannot use our "US" stamps. Or like another member said you would need approx. 2 IRCs if you are not able to get stamps from another country.

There are people on the site who sell UK/US stamps in the "Autographs for Sale/Exchange" forum. Or if you go to most postal websites you can purchase stamps from there.

I hope I helped explain that a little better. It gets a little confusing trying to even for me.

Uhm, well the best I can explain it:

It was a.. I believe $1.65 stamp, in which I put on my outer envelope, according to my mom I was supposed to, cuz she always puts the samp of where she's sending to on the outside. When we asked the lady what stamp to put on the USA one, and what one for the UK one, she said that the 95 cent one was for the USA, and the $1.65 was for overseas and stuff, so I really dunno. I hope they send it back, instead of giving it to the celebs and they end up having to pay it, because they likely won't, and it's a burden to them if they do, so here's to hoping.

they should return the mail to you if it won't work, or it will go back to the celeb and say they have to pay postage

Did you use an IRC for the UK one? I never heard of an international stamp.

Maybe this makes a difference, I don't know. I didn't put a "UK" stamp, I used an international stamp, would it be the same? Also, according to the post office, a 98 cent Canadian stamp is the same as a US stamp to send it to the USA, I can't really explain it well.

If it is unsendable becaue of a stamp mix-up, will they return the mail to me?

if is was you,
i would buy american stamps....IRC's in Canada are way too much....like $3.50
so find someone in the states to buy stamps for you and mail them over.
happy collecting

It's suppose to be the other way around, because in the US you can only use US stamps since that's the country you're sending from, but yea on your SASE you put whatever countries stamp they are sending from like UK you use UK stamps and the candian stamp goes on your first envelope

Odd, because at the post office, they said for sending to USA for example, put an American Stamp on my outer envelope, and a Canadian Stamp on the SASE, because its coming back to Canada, I dunno though, I just really hope I get them back. I do believe you, I'm just getting really confused here lol.

Put Canadian stamps on your outgoing letters, your outer envelope. On your SASE, put stamps from whatever country it's coming back from, OR include about 2 IRCs.
