Hello Megan, i am also from the UK & have not sent to the USA that much. The first time i did was Lauren Conrad. I sent an A5 hard backed envelope & added an envelope inside. I added two IRC just for added security. I did get a signed photo back & it was fab :D

I was able to purchase the IRC's from my local post office :D

I usually send C5 size envelopes, if that isn't big enough will they send their own?
Im not sure.. I think it depends on who you are sending to.

Is it a good idea to send cardboard to stop pics getting bent? If so, just for international or for UK as well?
It is a good idea to send cardboard to stop the pictures getting bent. It will cost a little bit more to send tho.

Has anybody got any tips for sending abroad?
Make sure you have enough stamps on your envelope is the only thing I can say :lol:

How much do IRCs cost and can you get them at the Post Office?
IRC's are 95p

Hope this has helped ;-)

Hi meganalice! ;-)

Big welcome to Fanmail.biz! {clap}

I think it really depends on person to person, I know some will ignore your request if everything isn't ready, while others will supply their own envelopes fr your autograph to return. {up} This has happened to me also before, when I just started writing back in 2007 - my envelopes were rarely big enough for the big 8x10" photos, and some supplied a new, bigger envelope while I never heard back from others. Nowadays, I just look in the "Feedback" forum to find out how big the photos are that my favourite celebrities send out. {thumb2}

I you want to send a cardboard to keep your photos from getting bend, then sure, go for it! :) However, you're not guarenteed that the agent of person who sorts the celebrity's mail will insert it in your return envelope, so it can also be useless. All my mail always gets bend, even when it's quite thick postcards! :( So sending a cardboard won't necessarily stop your photos from getting bend, unfortunately.

I live in South Africa, so I always send aboard! :razz: It's really easy for me, nothing difficult or confusing really. :) Just make sure that you add enough stamps to your main envelope addressed to the celebrity, and also on your SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope). That's the most important thing when sending aboard: to make sure it'll get there, and back to you! :D Next, make sure to browse through the "Feedback" forum to see what you need to send to your favourite celebrity: should you include your own items to be signed, will they reply with an IRC, etc.

IRC's are becoming more and more rare, and I've heard that some post offices don't even accept them anymore. They're also very expensive, but the prices vary from country to country. Here in South Africa, they're not even sold anymore. {down} I try to avioid IRC's because of this reason, and that's why it's always better to try and get overseas stamps (you can buy them on eBay, or trade/buy from someone here at Fanmail.biz!). {thumb2}

Hope this helps, and good luck Megan!! :mrgreen:

getting back into autograph collecting - help please?

Hi, I live in the UK and so far I have mainly got EastEnders. I stopped collecting for a while as I was so busy with school work that I didn't have much time to write letters. But the other day I recieved an autograph I'd sent off via email to a fansite who passes on to management from America. It made me remember how great it feels when you get an autograph and I really want to start sending again. However, I want to send to more than just EastEnders.

Autographs I have from abroad so far did not need anIRC and I knew this before sending.
