I always write "Photo: Do not bend" on the envelope. I can't see what harm it could possibly do. It could get the mail carrier or whoever to think before they just cram it because they're in a hurry or having a "I hate my job" day.

The post-master at my Post Office is good about stamping the envelope if it has arrived at the branch office damaged. That way I'll know it wasn't the mail carrier.

I also live in Australia. Ok as an example, I received an Ozzy Osboune autograph and mum picks it up from the P.O Box. The P.O box is actually really small and I don't know how they fit my A4 envelope in it. Anyway I always right Do Not Bend and none of mine have been bent luckily.
Good luck everyone!

It's like they are in training for Mr Universe... no matter how much you write "PLEASE (nicely) DO NOT BEND" they still insist on bending them!!! {down} thumbs down from me....
Also annoying that in Aus there is no (to my knowledge) padded envelope that is blank... they all have 'Australian Post' on them (which I presume wouldn't be good if your sending it as an SAE overseas.

Anyway thats all the whinging from me today...

I think I might have seen plain padded envelopes at Officeworks the other day. I wasn't really paying attention though.

Hope this helps 8).

Even though it's against the law, I would imagine that your mail would "disapear." However, making your box bigger may not stop it. It may not be the carrier that is bending it. It may be the post office itself.

A bigger box should help the situation though.

If they keep bending them, then you need to talk to the postmaster at your postoffice.

One possible solution is that perhaps you get a larger mailbox. Of course, if you use a letter slot, then I don't know what you can do.
Talking to the postmaster may result in some of my mail 'disappearing' but your solution to make the postbox bigger seems the best, Ive been putting off building another one but at least it would stop the woul-be 'Mr Universe in training' postmen bending the letters (hopefully).

All the best,

All very good points. If the mailman seems like a friendly person, then I would reccomend talking to him. If he seems the non-sociable type, then I would go to his superiors.

Especially If I told him that these envelopes contain something important to me. Then I'd hope he would understand and at least make an effort to NOT bend them. I honestly don't think me going to the post office with my complaint will do much so I'm better off talking directly with my mailman.

But of course that's IMO.

I agree, talking to him could help, and if I were him, telling my bosses would make me madder then talking to me. and if he does start destroying your mail, thats a federal offense
