That is a good idea

What I would say however is to be very careful who you give your number to. I would never give out my home phone number, but I can't see a problem with giving my mobile number!
okay...thanks. I think i'll only put my number on letters where I am pretty sure that the celeb im sending it to will read. (which is only a few) The only thing is...if they WERE to actually call me I would probably think it was a prank call and embarass myself to death.

Thanks Ian.

I will do that

Hi James,

I think it is mainly to do with the fact it is for charity. I firmly believe my successes have been so high is because I have given celebs the option to check me out.

I am sure that some of the people who called or emailed me don't know me from Adam, but because they have had the chance to speak to me or get an email reply they trust me more. [Incidentally, I had the Scout Association (my charity) set me up an email address to put on my letters, they then forward all emails to my private email address.]

As I said, I do know some of the people who called, mainly to be nosy!, but the rest just wanted to check out my validity.

If possible I would recommend at least all charity collectors to include an email address and phone number.

WOW- I would love to have been emailed or called by them.

I have been emailed by Uri Gellar, Nancy Cartwright, Iain Lee and James O Brien.
Hey James {up}

I have been emailed by loads over the past 6 months or so including: Chris Tarrant, Phillip Schofield, James Whittaker, Julie Walters, Michael Palin, Ricky Tomlinson, Victoria Wood, Jaclyn Smith, Eddie Izzard, Carol Vorderman, Sheila Hancock, Ian McKellan, Warwick Davis, Eamon Holmes, Joanna Lumley, and Linzi Hately. Also (probably like everybody else) I have got "standard" emails telling me an auto was on it's way from loads of others!

I have been phoned by: Sir Steve Redgrave (Olympic Rower), Duncan Preston (Acorn Antiques etc), Ray Park (Darth Maul), Barbara Windsor (EastEnders), Chris Tarrant (Who Want's to be a Millionaire), Julie Walters (Acorn Antiques, Educating Rita, Billy Elliott etc), Kenny Baker (R2D2), Victoria Wood (Acorn Antiques / Comediene etc), Stephen Fry (Various!), Richard Briers, Peter Duncan (Blue Peter etc - Current Cheif Scout), Timmy Mallet (?!!!), Jamie Oliver (TV chef), and Nigella Lawson (TV chefette!)

All these calls have been via my mobile - so they must have got the number from my letter. Incidentally, it can be quite embarassing at times, as Sir Steve Redgrave called and when I asked who it was he said "Steve". I automatically thought it was somebody else, and all forms of bizarreness ensued. . . . ! It was pretty embarassing, and I had to appologise. Enough said. :wink:

I must admit though, I either know, or have at least met most of the above already through my work, so I have cheated a bit :wink:

I have met Uri Gellar (through my Ghosthunting stuff), but he did not phone or email me!!!! The old "spoonbender" did send a signed copy of his mag though!

I always put my email address on my letters, as well as my cellphone number.

During my collecting for charity I have been phoned and emailed by several celebs, so it is definately worth doing it!!!!

Do you think it would be weird if I put my telephone number on letters that I write to celebrities....even though I just collect for fun and not for charity. Or no? Hahaha....one of my dreams is to have a celebrity telephone me!!!
Hi froggys_friend91 {up}

I don't think it is weird at all! You never know you might get lucky.
